Matters of Taste | Dining & Drinking in Lech

The Dining Room | The Place to Linger

Food and drink are not just fuel. They are part of the rhythm. The mornings begin with Andrea's muesli conspiracy and evenings end when someone finally admits they cannot justify another glass. Though most try anyway.

At Hotel Lech in Lech am Arlberg, the dining room is where Alpine heritage meets candlelight. Breakfast fuels mountain ambitions. Dinner quietly derails them. Somewhere between the first coffee and the last glass of wine, time stops and conversations refuse to end.

We have watched guests arrive with firm plans for the evening and leave hours later wondering what happened. The answer is usually a lovingly prepared four course dinner, Austrian wine and a fire that makes leaving feel unreasonable.

The Morning Law | Breakfast

Andrea's muesli is waiting

A family closely guarded family secret. Alongside it: artisan bread from the Lech village bakery, regional cold cuts, Vorarlberg Alpine cheese and coffee (or tea) strong enough to negotiate the next Arlberg adventure.

Breakfast is included year-round for guests of both Hotel Lech & Residenz Chesa Rosa. Whether you are prepping for a day of backcountry skiing, hiking in the Austrian Alps or simply doing very little remarkably well. All strategies are equally valid.

From Summit to Supper | Winter Half-Board

There is a moment, just as the light fades behind the mountains and the air turns icy cold, when it gets even cosier at Hotel Lech in Lech. Snow drifts quietly beyond the big windows. Inside, the fire crackles and artfully folded napkins await on candlelit tables. Boots are traded for woollen socks, ski jackets for a favourite jumper. The day slips from summit to supper.

Why trudge through the snow when the fire is already burning, the champagne is cooled, the cocktails are waiting and the wine is already decanting?

Winter half-board at Hotel Lech in Lech am Arlberg follows the Wingelmayr logic:

  • Homemade cakes in the afternoon. Timed perfectly for that post-ski, pre-dinner moment when willpower is at its lowest.
  • Salad buffet worthy of the term "buffet of dreams".
  • Choice of two soups & two main courses. Each with a vegetarian option.
  • Dessert to feed the soul and body.

And every Wednesday? Fondue Night!
Mandatory. Like snow and the Arlberg.

Fireplace & Bar | The Blazing Heart

Some hotels have a lobby. We have a living room.

Deep red sofas. A blazing fire. Quaffable Austrian wines. Cool Champagne. The fireplace is the blazing heart of Hotel Lech & Chea Rosa. After skiing, hiking, golfing or mountain biking in the Alps, everyone eventually ends up here. Just for one drink. Always longer.

Village Whispers | The Best Restaurants in Lech

Should you decide to leave the fireplace, Lech am Arlberg offers one of the highest concentrations of award-winning restaurants in the Alps. Michelin stars and Gault-Millau toques are within a five to ten minute stroll from Hotel Lech. A dangerous amount of choice.

The village restaurants are extraordinary. Genuinely world-class. Worth every step through the snow.

However, the fire at home is very persuasive. And the sofa has already learned your name.

Restaurant tips available from reception. We genuinely want you to experience the best of Lech. Even if that means you skip our dinner to do so. Though we suspect you will be back by dessert.

Refining. For you.
Big things are underway.

A new website. A new logo. Fully refurbished rooms.
2026 is taking shape.

Things are being taken apart, drilled into, rebuilt. Then built again. And yes, even hung.
A complete revamp of nine rooms.

Oak floors. Underfloor heating. Colour.
Wingi’s design, with a touch of mischief.

Which also means the house remains unfortunately closed this summer.

We are, however, very much here. Always.
For bookings. For questions. For a lovely conversation, gladly. A phone call always works. Emails too.

As soon as the last craftsman has packed up and the snow settles and stays, the doors open again.
Most likely blissfully free of construction debris by then.

UNIQUE BY NATURE. DISTINCLTY LECH.
