Skiing is Our Being | It’s our DNA

Skiing | Lech am Arlberg

If you look closely in the stairwell, you’ll find an endearing little photo of Grandma Rosa. There she sits in the spring grass, her wooden skis beside her and old leather boots laced tightly, absolutely beaming. It was mountain love back then, just as it is today. For us, the Arlberg and the snow are part of our very DNA; a love handed from one generation to the next. It is the inherited knowledge of how that one perfect moment feels - the moment the rest of the world simply stops turning. We are a ski hotel in Lech with the spirit of the mountains in our soul.

This is where alpine skiing was born. Hannes Schneider pioneered the Arlberg technique here, establishing the first ski school in the world. Lech am Arlberg is not just a ski resort. It is the cradle. The origin. The place where it all began.

But to us, it is simply home.

Classics:
The White Ring & Der Lange Zug

A must for any ski holiday in Lech. Some descents are more than just snow and gradient. They are the Arlberg stories you'll rave about at home.

The White Ring

The most legendary ski circuit in the Alps. 22 kilometres of pistes and 5,500 vertical metres connecting Lech, Zürs, Zug, and Oberlech. Whether as a sporting challenge or a leisurely loop, the White Ring is compulsory on any ski holiday at the Lech am Arlberg.

And the clever part: once the snow retreats, the legend doesn't disappear. It just changes colour. The White Ring becomes the Green Ring. High altitude hiking, trail running, and those who want to see the Arlberg's peaks without the white blanket. Same mountains, different rhythm, same addictive feeling.

Der Lange Zug

One of the steepest groomed descents in the world. 4.7 kilometres long, up to 80 percent gradient. A genuine heart rate slope at the Rüfikopf. It starts at the top and demands respect, sharp edges, and a certain level of commitment. Our tip: tackle it in the morning when the corduroy is crisp. We'll have the sauna ready for your adrenaline to settle upon your return.

The Cradle of Alpine Skiing

At the Arlberg, skiing is part of the DNA. From the pioneers through the Arlberg technique to the first lifts. Anyone who skis here breathes history. The Arlberg is the cradle of alpine skiing and you're right in the middle of it.

The shortest path to the snow leads via the buffet. Please don't take that literally. First, fuel up with Andreas' legendary muesli made from the most secret family secret recipe, then collect the ski pass directly at reception. It's waiting, freshly printed.

From breakfast it's straight into the ski room to the preheated ski and snowboard boots. Après Ski & Winter Wellness

When the ski, snowboard, and telemark boots are allowed to rest, the relaxed part of the day begins. The After, after the Arlberg. Anyone looking for a hotel in Lech with wellness has found the right place. Sauna for sweating, steam bath for steaming, and then: straight onto the sofa in front of the crackling fireplace.

In the small, fine wellness area in Lech, you travel back to antiquity,  a little microcosm of recovery after a day in Ski Arlberg. A glass of wine, a fancy drink, or a cool Champagne by the crackling fireplace — winter holidays at the Arlberg can be this fine. And if absolutely nothing works after the deep powder turns: in an emergency there's a wheelbarrow to get you safely to dinner.

Very Hotel Lech. Very relaxed.

Refining. For you.
Big things are underway.

A new website. A new logo. Fully refurbished rooms.
2026 is taking shape.

Things are being taken apart, drilled into, rebuilt. Then built again. And yes, even hung.
A complete revamp of nine rooms.

Oak floors. Underfloor heating. Colour.
Wingi’s design, with a touch of mischief.

Which also means the house remains unfortunately closed this summer.

We are, however, very much here. Always.
For bookings. For questions. For a lovely conversation, gladly. A phone call always works. Emails too.

As soon as the last craftsman has packed up and the snow settles and stays, the doors open again.
Most likely blissfully free of construction debris by then.

UNIQUE BY NATURE. DISTINCLTY LECH.
