Mountainbike + Downhill In The Alps

Mountainbike + Downhill In Lech Am Arlberg

A mountainbike, you and the Arlberg. With a stoical push and deep breaths you get a little bit higher, every time you push into that pedal. Higher and higher right into the middle of nowhere in the Austrian Alps somewhere on the Arlberg. There are numerous trails that are being used by mountain bikers and downhillers. Your basecamp, the Hotel Lech in Lech am Arlberg, knows the nicest ones. There is a lockable garage for your beloved bike!

Mountainbike Tours In Lech Am Arlberg

Lech am Arlberg in summertime is colorful, our rooms bewitching and mountain biking ecstatic! Even though there is the interactive bike map, we would like to point out three different bike routes, that we think are very pretty:
  • Spullersee (easy) – right next to the most beautiful place of Austria: Formarinsee

You do not need to be a professional road cyclist to cycle the 15km and about 400m altitude gain (one way). The tour starts right at the front door of Hotel Lech in Lech and guides you along the Lech river (or road) through the "Zugertal" all the way to the deep blue Spullersee. If there is still a bit of strength left you could continue biking all the way to Ravensburger Hütte (1.948m).

  • Formarinsee (medium) – the most beautiful place of Austria (it a real thing! the area won the award!)

The Formarinsee is to be found on 1.793m right next to the Rote Wand (a beautiful mountain with a red rock band). It is also the source of the Lech River and the start of the legendary Lechweg. The bike is more or less 15km long and about 425m altitude gain (one way). For those of you that still have a bit of strength left you may continue biking all the way to Freiburger Hütte (1.918m).

  • Kriegersattel + Kriegerhorn (hard) – uphill

This mountain bike tour is short, but though. It is only 13km long, but you have to climb minimum 550m vertical. This tour will take about 1,5hours without having a break. You start at the front door of Hotel Lech in Lech and bike up to Oberlech from there you keep on paddling to Grubenalpe, continue to Kriegersattel and if those legs are not about to fall off you may bike all the way to Kriegerhorn at 2.149m. Enjoy!
